Join us in conversation with Shivani Siroya, CEO and Founder of Tala (formerly InVenture) and her investor, Anu Duggal of Female Founders Fund, to learn about how Tala is building world class technology to revolutionize financial services in emerging markets.
Founded in 2011, Tala launched in Kenya as a mobile app aggregating customer data to determine a credit score and offer loans. Since then, Tala has gone on to expand across Africa and Asia and is one of the fastest growing fintech companies in the world.
Shivani founded Tala (InVenture) after witnessing firsthand the tremendous gaps in financial access in emerging markets. Prior to founding Tala, Shivani held a variety of positions in global health, microfinance, and investment banking, including with the United Nations Population Fund, Health Net, Citigroup and UBS. Shivani is a 2016 Aspen Institute Finance Leader Fellow, 2016 WEF Young Global Leader, 2015 Senior TED Fellow and 2013 Ashoka Fellow. She is also on the board of Stellar.org. She holds a M.P.H from Columbia University and a B.A. from Wesleyan University.
As the Founding Partner of Female Founders Fund, Anu believes that the next generation of successful venture-backed entrepreneurs will include talented female founders. A few of her portfolio companies include Eloquii, WayUp, Maven and Zola. An entrepreneur herself, Anu’s many successes include starting India’s first wine bar – The Tasting Room, as well as co-founding Exclusively.com, an Accel and Tiger-backed e-commerce company based in India. Anu graduated from Vassar College and holds an MBA from London Business School.
